Chipotle has always been one of my favorite go tos for keto friendly options, and theyve made it even more official with the new Keto Salad Bowl! Its especially great when youre short on time or simply dont feel like cooking.

When dieting, it is best to limit carbohydrates to 20g per day, and ideally, you should aim to keep this amount below 30 grams. However, if you are looking to lose weight, it is better to eat less carbs every day. When you do eat carbs, you should consume them as protein, with fat filling up the remainder.     But before we get into how to construct your order, let’s go over all of the keto friendly ingredients and the ones that you’ll want to avoid.

    Oh, and I will be giving the total net carbs for each ingredient, and they were calculated using the Chipotle Nutrition Calculator on their website. This calculator makes it simple to find out how many carbs are in each ingredient and your entire order to ensure you’re sticking to a keto lifestyle.

    PROTEIN OPTIONS

    Chipotle has a variety of keto friendly protein options to choose from for the base of your order.

    Here are the best ones:

    • Carnitas: 0 NET CARBS
    • Steak: 0 NET CARBS
    • Barbacoa: 1 NET CARB

    So, as you can see, all the protein options at Chipotle are as low carb as it gets.

    The only protein option you’ll want to avoid is the Sofritas since it has 6 NET CARBS and isn’t great for the keto diet. Having said that, you can order it, but you’ll just be limited by the other ingredients you can add in if you want to keep your order low carb.

    How To Makeketo Big Mac Salad

    Lets learn how to make keto big mac salad! Im ready for lunch.

    Put the cast iron skillet on the stovetop over medium-low and add some olive oil. Thinly slice two sweet onions and add them to the skillet.

    Let them slowly cook down to a lovely golden brown, stirring occasionally. It can take anywhere from 45-60 minutes to caramelize the onions. Dont rush this process!

    Set the onions aside and add more olive oil to the skillet. Slice your mushrooms and sauté them for 10-15 minutes over medium heat. Set them aside as well.

    Now add the ground beef and steak seasoning to the skillet. Brown it over medium heat, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks. It will take about 10 minutes.

    To make the dressing, whisk together the mayo, chopped chipotle in adobo, garlic, lime juice, cumin, salt, and pepper. Chill until ready to serve.

    Cut your cherry or grape tomatoes in half. To assemble the salads, divide the butter lettuce between four bowls.

    Top the bowls with the beef, mushrooms, Gruyere, caramelized onions, and tomatoes. Reheat the beef, mushrooms, and onions if theyve cooled too much. Drizzle on the dressing and enjoy.

    • Guacamole – The infamous guacamole. You will probably be charged extra, but it is well worth it. Chipotle takes pride in their freshly made guacamole. Youll get a hefty serving of guacamole with 22g of fat per order.
    • Sour cream – It may not be super high in protein, but it is high in fat! There are 9g of fat in every serving of the Chipotle sour cream.
    • Cheese – Cheese is definitely a staple on the keto diet. It makes for the best keto bowl with tons of protein and fat. Per order of cheese there are 7.5g of fat and 6 whole grams of protein!

    Not to mention, these are also the tastiest toppings! Dont be afraid to ask for double meat or double guacamole if you need the extra fat macros. *Nutrition per serving means it is at the liberty of the staff.     Secret tip: Order two types of meat- ex. 1/2 chicken 1/2 barbacoa. Often times the staff wont perfectly level it and will usually give you more meat than normal for regular price!

That means you wont find any legumes, dairy, or grains in the Whole30 bowl, while the Keto bowl comes with a dollop of healthy-fat-filled guac.

    But while were all about people choosing the eating plan that works best for them, we had to ask: Whats really in these bowls? Do they offer a good number of calories for a meal? How many grams of protein, carbs, and fat are we getting in each dish? We dug into the nutrition facts to find out.

    How Is Chipotles Cauliflower Rice

    Chipotle also recently came out with their cauliflower rice bowls, which are surprisingly delicious.

    All in all, i was impressed with their cauliflower rice and I thought they did a good job. It has great flavor, good bite, and actually works well as a sub for rice.

    Its important to remember that cauliflower rice isnt rice, but its still good!

    The only real high carb item chosen was the sour cream. Chipotle has a much higher carb sour cream than most store bought versions. It is about 5 net carbs per scoop they give you. This will be what really sets Meghas macros higher in net carbs than Matts.

    While her meal was 14g net carbs this salad bowl could easily be lower if she had subbed the sour cream for more of the fresh tomato salsa.

    Eating out while keto is not always easy. Many restaurants will cater to us low carb folks but fast food is not as accommodating. Sure, you can remove buns from burgers and omit fries entirely, but you may end up with a lot less food and find yourself either paying double or still hungry! Cant we low-carb eaters catch a break?!     This is a level 2 recipe . Truth time: you could make a lower calorie and keto meal by ordering a bunless Big Mac without fries. However, it may not be very filling compared to this salad. I think burger salads are a really great concept to get the burger flavor in a more satisfying meal.

    A lot of people using the keto diet for weight loss combine it with intermittent fasting. If you only eat two meals per day, you may be able to fit larger meals and maintain a calorie deficit.
